Aaron Wright is originally from Paducah, Kentucky but has spent the last decade living overseas working in international education. He taught English as a Second Language and Literature in multiple countries including South Korea, Japan, Turkey, and the Czech Republic. While he maintains a love for the classroom, his career evolved into educational administration and leadership and served in various roles over the course of his career. He has held various director and coordinator roles such as the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program Coordinator and Academic Programs Coordinator.
Currently, Aaron lives in Washington, DC where he works as a doctoral program admissions counselor at an edtech company. Additionally, he serves as the Director of the Board of Trustees at Carlsbad International School, his former institution, where he - along with his team - are tasked with revitalizing the institution and its academic programs. As the Director, Aaron is steering the school into a 21st-century learning environment centered around the development of young leaders, diversity and inclusion, and harnessing a love and understanding for environmental sustainability.
He holds a Bachelors of Arts in English Literature from Eastern Kentucky University, a Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages and Sociocultural Linguistics from The New School, and just recently graduated from American University with a Master of Arts in International Relations and International Development.
While his passion continues to lie in academia, he realizes that the need for socioeconomic development within communities of color in the United States is stronger than ever. His experiences and knowledge in the development field include but are not limited to: sustainable development and global environmental policy, socioeconomic development, public health policy, intercultural communications, global political development, and conflict assessment and prevention. Additionally, he holds experience and certificates in grant writing, public policy writing, project design, monitoring, and evaluation for non-governmental organizations, ethnographic observation, quantitative statistical analysis, and effective communication strategies.
His research at American University was on urbanization, environmental sustainability, and environmental racism in Prince Georgeβs County. He argues for more inclusive urban planning processes as they pertain to public transportation, and the need for developing more climate-resilient infrastructure to best assist marginalized communities in the wake of climate change and future environmental-related disasters.
Aaron is looking forward to working as the Director of Community Development and Public Outreach at Care Foundations to promote positive and inclusive change for all in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
