Lorraine is the Treasurer of CARE, Inc. Lorraineβs shared passion for community service has prompted her to join Coalition for Advancement and REinvestment. In this role, she is the lead board director of financial management and oversight. She plans, develops, organizes, implements, directs and evaluates the organization's fiscal function and performance. She also connects, strengthens, and build trust between and among partner organizations, businesses and groups.
Lorraine grew up on a tropical paradise in the Caribbean island of Guyana. After migrating to the USA, Lorraine pursued a career in Nursing at Prince Georgesβ Community college. She became a registered nurse and practiced for over 25 years throughout Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia. She is the recipient various awards.
Lorraine is the proud CEO and owner of Tricare Medical & Health Supplies, LLC. They specialize in supplying quality medical products and excellent customer service to enrich clientsβ lives and uplift their spirits in the community and beyond. She is also the CEO and owner of the Taste of the Caribbean Restaurant and Lounge restaurant chain. There are four restaurant locations. Lorraine has a passion for cooking tasty Caribbean cuisine. She is an accomplished Arts and Craft artist and when she is not designing products, she enjoys spending time with her friends and family, especially with her six lovely grand kids.
Lorraine is a community advocate and has a passion for being a servant leader as evidenced by the creation of significant community projects in her home country of Guyana and the DMV area. Her desire to help the undeserved took root at an early age and was fostered through numerous volunteer activities in her hometown. She currently serves on the board of several nonprofits. She is dedicated to mentoring the next generation of entrepreneurs and leaders.
She has worked with a variety of institutions, including large churches, various nonprofits, and small businesses. As a registered nurse, Lorraine went on several medical missions during times of natural disasters and humanitarian crisis to places like Haiti, etc. Lorraine and her family distribute food and feed over 150 families on weekly basis. She also cooks and provide hot meals for the homeless once a month. Lorraine hopes to build upon her caring nature as a lifetime nurse and genuine passion to foster community outreach.
